If there were any doubts about the power and influence of social media, recent world events have surely erased them. For us, the effective use of these platforms can transform not only the way we do business, but the business we're likely to get.

Our timely and informative panel discussion moderated by Freelance Forum board member Teryl Jackson and featured three social media professionals:

  • Stephanie True Moss - True Moss Communications (Freelance Forum member)
  • Stacey Dougherty - 5057MEDIA (social media strategy, training and support services for small businesses)
  • Dawn Gartin - Social Mediaologist, Speaker & Trainer

Presenters at Freelance Forum's Social Media panel program on March 3, 2011 (from left to right): Dawn Gartin, Teryl Jackson (moderator, Freelance Forum treasurer), Stacey Dougherty, and Stephanie True Moss.

The open-format discussion covered:
  • How can I get the most from the new Facebook business pages?
  • How can I manage my social media program efficiently? How do I come up with the right content?
  • What the heck are hashtags, and how do I use them?
  • How can my LinkedIn profile help me get new clients?
  • QR Codes: What's that funny box, and why would I want to use one in my client's next campaign?
  • What is Quora, and how will it help my business?
  • What is DropBox, and why would I want to use it?
  • I don't care if you’re at Starbucks, so why should I bother with Twitter?
It was an ideal program that couldn’t come at a better time!
