Local vs remote editing gigs, which one actually pays better here?

I've been freelancing as an editor in Albuquerque for about 3 years now. I mostly work with small businesses on their websites and social posts. Last month I had to choose between a local shop that wanted me on-site twice a week for $35 an hour, and a remote gig from a company in Santa Fe offering $28 an hour but steady 30 hours a week. I took the local one because I figured networking in person would lead to more work. So far I've done 4 weeks and honestly the drive from the Northeast Heights to Old Town eats up gas and time, plus the shop keeps changing scope. The remote one would've been more predictable. Has anyone else compared local versus remote work in ABQ and found one way better for actually making a living?
