Showerthought: an old lead hand told me to log my torque wrench calibration in the back of my binder, and it just saved me on an audit
Back in 2021 a lead hand named Ray at a hangar in Bakersfield told me to write every torque wrench cal date in the back of my binder, not just trust the sticker. I thought it was busywork and did it anyway to keep him off my back. Fast forward to last Tuesday, we got a surprise records check and the auditor wanted cal history on 4 wrenches going back 2 years. I flipped to the back page and had every date, all in one place, done in about 90 seconds. Two other guys got flagged because their stickers had peeled off or faded. Ray retired in 2023 and I never got to tell him that little habit bailed me out. Anyone else keep a paper backup like that, or is it all in your CMMS now?
