That cheap borescope from the truck stop actually saved my butt

Picked up a $35 wireless borescope at a truck stop outside Phoenix last month because I forgot mine back home. Figured it would be garbage, you know, just another gimmick. But I had a Cessna 172 with a stuck valve and no way to see into the cylinder without pulling the jug. Hooked that thing to my phone and got a clear look at the carbon buildup in like 10 minutes. The picture was honestly better than my $200 one, just a little laggy. My lead mechanic saw it and laughed, but he used it twice that same day to check exhaust pipes. Has anyone else found random cheap tools that somehow outperform the brand name stuff?
