I mounted keypads at chest height for 8 years until a homeowner in Phoenix asked me why
Last Tuesday I was finishing a panel swap in Phoenix and the guy watched me drill for the keypad at my usual spot, right at eye level. He asked if I was putting it there for me or for his wife in a wheelchair, and I just stood there with the drill running. I went back through my head and realized I'd been copying the height from the guy who trained me back in 2016 without ever asking why it was there. Now I measure from the floor to the user's hand and it's usually 8 to 10 inches lower than where I used to put it. What height are you all mounting at, and did anybody actually teach you that or did you just inherit it like I did?
