Just realized my old trick for hiding wires was causing false alarms

For like 6 years I used to run sensor wires behind baseboards with a staple gun, zip ties, whatever was fast. Then last month in a house off Route 9, a mouse chewed through one of those staples and shorted the contact, set off the whole panel at 2am. Now I always run a dedicated conduit path or use adhesive clips with enough slack, takes an extra 15 minutes per zone but saves the callback hassle. Anyone else ever had critters mess with their wiring runs?
