Shoutout to the homeowner in Dayton who handed me a lemonade mid-install and then asked 40 questions
Last Wednesday I was up in a crawlspace running 18 gauge wire for four door contacts and a motion, sweating through my shirt at like 2pm. The guy comes out with a pitcher of lemonade and just stands there watching me fish wire for the panel, then starts asking if his cat could trip the motion sensor. I told him it depends on the cat, and sure enough his fat orange tabby set it off three times that night just walking past the hallway. Ended up moving the sensor up two feet and swapping the pet immunity setting, and he tipped me $40 cash on top of the job. Anyone else got a regular spot where the homeowner talks your ear off but you still leave feeling good about it?
Hold on, he tipped you $40 on top of the job? For a lemonade and some questions? I'd have taken the lemonade and called it even, so that part is throwing me. And the fat orange tabby setting off the motion three times is hilarious, cats are built to mess with everything. You moved the sensor up two feet and still got paid extra, that's a win any day. That guy sounds like a talker but at least he's a generous one.
