The 8 foot Norway maple I pruned last spring finally leafed out evenly

I took down about 30 percent of the crown on a Norway maple in late March, mostly deadwood and crossing branches. Six weeks later the canopy filled in way more uniform than I expected, no bald spots or weird clusters. Last year the same tree had a lopsided look because I kept leaving the heavy side alone. It turned out the thinning opened up light to the inner buds, which is what made the difference. Has anyone else seen a canopy balance out that fast after a hard prune?
