The crane operator in Topeka who made me ditch my spikes
Watched a crew take down a 60 foot cottonwood last spring with a crane and zero climbing. The operator lowered a guy onto the canopy and they stripped it like a fish. I still climb most things, but now I ask about crane access on big deadwood jobs and it cuts my day in half. Has anyone else shifted their approach after watching a removal go faster without a single spike hole?
