Talked to a grad student about the Clovis First model

A girl from University of Arizona told me the Monte Verde site in Chile is 14,500 years old. She had a point about how we ignore evidence from South America. Made me question everything I learned in my intro anthro class.

14,500 years old and I still can't even remember where I put my keys this morning lmao. My intro anthro class was basically "Clovis is king, don't question it" and I just nodded along like a lil sheep. Monte Verde really does throw a wrench in that whole "people walked over from Asia 13,000 years ago" story. Crazy how we just ignored South America for so long like it was the awkward kid at the lunch table. Guess I need to rethink my whole life now, thanks Arizona girl.

But isn't the Monte Verde date still pretty debatable @mitchell.avery, and doesn't the Clovis model still explain an awful lot?
