So here's my unpopular take: most home fixes aren't hard, we just check the easy stuff first and quit too soon. My dryer started taking two full cycles to dry a normal load back in early April, and I did the obvious things like cleaning the lint screen after every load and running a vacuum brush down the lint trap. After 5 weeks of guessing and one $140 repair visit where the guy checked the heating element and said it was fine, I finally crawled behind the machine with a flashlight and pulled out a fist sized clump of lint from the flexible duct near the wall. The whole job took 12 minutes once I actually looked in the right place. I think people online act like they'd have solved this on day one, but real life doesn't work that way when you assume the cheap fix is the answer. What's a repair you chased around the obvious spot before checking the boring one?
