A guy at the Sandy Springs breakfast meetup said to stop pitching and just ask one favor, and my follow-ups doubled
I went to the Tuesday morning meetup at the diner on Roswell Road back in March and got stuck next to a guy who runs a small IT shop. I started doing my usual 30 second pitch and he cut me off, saying "nobody remembers a pitch, but everybody remembers a favor." So I tried it on my next five coffee chats and instead of selling I just asked each person to introduce me to one person they actually trusted. Four out of five made the intro within a week, and two of those turned into real conversations about work. Now I'm wondering if I should drop the pitch completely or keep a short version for when someone asks what I do.
