Noticing more cars need computer updates for basic drives

Had a pickup in yesterday with a slight shake at idle. Old school, I'd look at the fuel filter or maybe the mounts. This time, the fix was a software patch from the maker. The owner waited half a day for a download. Just feels strange to fix a car with a laptop now.

That bit about fixing with a laptop... a buddy of mine had his sedan in for a rough idle last month. Turns out it just needed a new engine control module flash from the dealer, nothing mechanical at all. He said it felt like updating his phone, not fixing a car.

Wait, so they just plugged it in?

My old laptop takes longer to update than @logan_anderson40's buddy's car fix, honestly. Modern tech, right?
