Rant: dropped $340 on a smoke machine and it found the vacuum leak in 20 minutes
Spent 3 hours with carb cleaner before that. Anybody else think a smoke machine is the best money they ever spent on diagnostic tools?

Wait, you spent 340 bucks? I gotta ask, did you buy the fancy one with the built in compressor or something? Because I borrowed my buddy's cheap Amazon one for like 80 bucks and it did the same thing on my truck, found a cracked intake gasket in maybe 15 minutes. Not knocking your purchase at all, if it works it works and honestly I'd pay double that to skip another afternoon of huffing carb cleaner and guessing. Three hours of that stuff is brutal, I did it once chasing a leak on an old Civic and I swear I was tasting chemicals for two days. Anyway yeah, smoke machines are worth every penny.
