Spent 2 hours chasing a no start on a 2011 Civic because I trusted the scan tool over my ears
Last Tuesday a regular brought in his Civic saying it cranked but would not fire, and the scanner showed no codes at all, so I went down the fuel and spark rabbit hole for way too long. My old boss Dale used to say a no code no start is usually something dumb, and he was right, because when I finally just listened while a helper cranked it, I could hear the fuel pump was silent. Turned out the pump had died but the car was too old and too base model to even set a code for it. I had a jumper wire on the relay in 10 minutes and it fired right up. How many of you still do the old listen for the pump prime check before you even plug in the scanner?
