Saw a guy at the Columbus spring meet run a stage 2 tune with no wideband, just a butt dyno and hope
I stopped by a tuning meet at a shop off I-71 in Columbus last Saturday and watched a kid in a turbo Civic show off his new tune. He proudly said he bumped boost to 18 psi on 93 octane with the stock fuel pump and no wideband gauge in sight. When I asked how he knew his air/fuel ratio was safe, he shrugged and said it felt fast. That is a game of luck, not tuning, and one lean pull on a hot day can put a hole in a piston before you ever hear knock. Has anyone seen a cheap wideband setup actually save a motor at a meet like this?
