Can we talk about the 2 inch piece of safety wire that almost took out a static wick over Kansas
Ngl I was doing a pit stop in Wichita two weeks back and found a loose static wick on the tail, so I grabbed my safety wire pliers and went to town. Tbh the wick was seated fine but the braided wire run along the trailing edge had a 2 inch tail sticking out that I must have missed on the last 100 hour. I flagged it in the log, grounded the plane for 40 minutes, and re-rigged the whole run with new lacing because the old cord was frayed at the last three standoffs. My lead said I was being paranoid but then he looked at it and agreed it would have chafed through the skin in another 20 hours. Has anyone else caught a bad static bond like that and how do you inspect yours without pulling the whole panel?
