Switched from a straight razor to a shavette for that one tricky regular, now I'm second guessing it
So I had this one regular, Mike, comes in every 3 weeks for a full head shave and beard lineup. Been doing him with my straight for two years, no problems. But he has this one spot on his neck where the hair grows sideways and I kept nicking him, like once every other cut. Nothing bad, just a little weeper. So I grabbed a shavette with a fresh blade, thinking the lighter weight would help me get around that curve easier. First cut with it went fine, actually got that spot cleaner than usual. But by the fourth client that day my wrist was sore from gripping so light, and I noticed I was rushing the passes because the blade felt so sharp I didn't trust it. Did two more cuts and went back to my straight. Mike didn't say anything but I could tell the shavette shave felt different to him, less smooth on the second pass. Now I'm wondering if I should've just changed my grip angle on the straight instead of switching tools. Anyone here keep both in rotation, or do you just commit to one and learn to work around the problem spots?
