Raised my rate from $45 to $65 an hour in Fort Worth and nobody batted an eye
I was scared to send the new number to a fence client last week, but he just said ok and signed the same day. That $20 bump on a 3 day job was almost $500 extra, which is wild for one awkward email. Any of you ever raise prices and get zero pushback like that?
...and that weird pit in your stomach before you hit send is the worst part. I did the same thing a few years back with a regular guy who I'd been charging the same rate for like four years straight. Sat on the email for two days, rewrote it three times, felt like I was about to ask him for a kidney. He replied in about four minutes with "sounds good, see you monday." Four minutes. I felt like such a fool for stressing that long over four minutes. It really makes you wonder how many years we all leave money on the table just because we're scared of a conversation that the other person doesn't even care about.
