Warning: my mentor Gus in Baltimore said never quote hourly on print jobs and he was so wrong
Back in March I quoted a logo and 500 business cards at a flat $550 because Gus swore hourly billing makes you look desperate. Job took me 40 hours when the customer kept changing everything, so I ate about $12 an hour on it. Called Gus to vent and he just laughed and said that's how you learn. So what do you all do when a project scope blows up mid job, do you send a new quote or just finish it?
Did Gus ever tell you about the time he quoted a "simple" van wrap that turned into three months of hell? I heard he stopped giving advice after that one. Some lessons you just pay for yourself.
