Had to choose between a big money job and a full week off...
So this potential gig came up last month, a rush job for a huge website rewrite. They offered $8,000 but needed it done in ten days, which meant working nights and the coming weekend. The other choice was to say no and finally take the vacation week I'd been putting off for two years. My brain said take the cash, but my hands were shaking just thinking about opening another project file. I picked the week off and went camping up near Lake Tahoe with zero cell service. For the first three days, I just slept and stared at trees. It felt weird to turn down that much money, but coming back, I actually wanted to work again. Has anyone else walked away from a big payday just to save their sanity?

Totally get that. Sometimes the money just isn't worth the burnout. You gotta protect your main engine.

Oh man, good for you! That is such a hard choice to make. Turned down a freelance project last year that would have paid my rent for three months, but the client was a total nightmare. My gut was screaming at me. Spent that time fixing up my bike instead and just breathing. The money would have been nice, but the peace was way better. You can't buy that reset button feeling.
