The 4 hour rule from a podcast finally got me to stop saying yes to everything
I always thought saying no to small jobs was just leaving cash on the table, until I heard a freelancer on a podcast say she tracks every job by how many hours it really eats, not what it pays. She said a $150 rush job that takes 4 hours is worse than a $400 job that takes 6, because the small one still wrecks your whole day. I tried it for two months and turned down three quick favors, and my actual take home went up $900. Turns out I was trading my evenings for pocket change and calling it hustle. Anyone else keep a real hours log, or do you just go by gut?
