I finally get why my mom taped every episode of her shows on VHS, and I just did the same thing with a DVR

Why does everyone act like recording stuff is about hoarding when it's really about control? My DVR lets me skip ads, pause live TV, and watch at 2am when I can't sleep. That's not the same as your mom stacking tapes in a closet. The real shift is that we went from praying the VCR timer worked to just hitting record on a screen. We traded the panic of a blank tape for the panic of a full hard drive.
