Vent: watched 9 seasons of a show at 1.5x speed before I realized I was missing half the jokes
Hit season 4 of The Bear last Tuesday and had to rewind a scene three times just to catch what Richie mumbled. Is it just me or does speeding through shows wreck the whole point of watching them?
Listened to my favorite album on 2x for like a month straight because I wanted to "get through it faster" and then one day I played it normal speed and heard this whole guitar part I had literally never noticed before. Felt like such a clown. I had been humming along to a version of the song that didn't even exist. Now I wonder how much other stuff I've ruined by rushing through it. Same thing happens with podcasts for me too, if I bump them up past like 1.2x all the voices just turn into background noise and I stop really hearing anything. So yeah, you're not crazy, the mumbling gets completely lost when you speed it up. Maybe the jokes were never the problem, we just skipped past them.
