A farrier in Boise pointed out my hammer angle was off by about 15 degrees.

I was shaping a leaf scroll and he said, 'You're fighting the metal.' Straightened my wrist and the work just flowed. Anyone else have a tiny tweak that made a huge difference?

Remember that feeling when you finally get the angle right. It's like the tool becomes part of your hand instead of something you're wrestling with. I had a similar thing happen learning to sharpen a chisel, just a slight roll of my wrist changed everything. Those tiny adjustments are what separate frustrating work from a clean result. You don't realize how much you're fighting yourself until someone shows you the easier way.

Used to think it was all about force until a friend showed me the right grip.
