Blew $95 on a dice tower at Gen Con and I was SO wrong about them
For years I thought dice towers were the dumbest thing in this hobby. Why pay real money for a fancy box that rolls dice when my hands work fine and the table is right there? My buddy kept telling me to just try one at our Thursday night group in Columbus, and I kept brushing him off. Then at Gen Con this year I finally caved and dropped $95 on a wooden tower from a vendor in the exhibit hall, mostly because my arm was tired and I wanted to sit down. First game with it, a 4 player round of Wingspan, and I noticed nobody was chasing dice across the floor anymore. My dice also stopped landing on top of cards and knocking stuff around, which used to happen at least once a session. The real kicker was my buddy's toddler, who used to grab loose dice off the table every ten minutes, and now the dice just drop into the tray. So yeah, I was wrong, I've been wrong the whole time. Does anyone here use a tower for heavier games like Too Many Bones, or does the tray fill up too fast?
