Question about the insulation job I saw at the plant in Gary
I was at the BP refinery in Whiting doing a turnaround and walked past a crew insulating a 12 inch steam line with pre-formed calcium silicate. What caught my eye was that they had cut it in two half-rounds and strapped it with stainless bands on roughly 9 inch centers, which is way tighter than I do it. Is there a reason for band spacing that close, or were they just being cautious?
