Pro tip: my pothos leaves turned yellow after I moved it to a north window, so I checked the soil with a $6 moisture meter
Last month I moved my 3 year old pothos from my bright kitchen to a north facing window in my home office in Portland, and within a week and a half the lower leaves started turning yellow. I thought it was root rot so I almost repotted it, but a $6 moisture meter from the hardware store showed the soil was still pretty wet 3 inches down even though I hadn't watered in 9 days. Turned out the cooler spot and bigger pot were keeping it wet way longer, so I pulled it back to the kitchen and only watered when the meter read dry. Two of the yellow leaves dropped but the rest of the plant has pushed out 4 new leaves since then. If you have a pothos doing this, check the soil moisture before you do anything drastic, it saved me from a repot I didn't need. Has anyone else had a plant hate a north window this much?
