Best budget week vs worst budget week debate

Last week I made 5 dinners for under $30 using a 10-pound bag of potatoes and some clearance chicken, but the week before I spent $45 on a single stir fry because I bought all fresh herbs that went bad in 2 days. Which week sounds more like your usual experience, the thrifty win or the expensive fail?

The 45 dollar stir fry week is way more relatable for me honestly. Potatoes and clearance chicken sounds like a solid plan but I always end up with three bunches of herbs wilting in the fridge because I got ambitious at the store. My budget weeks usually start great and then I cave and buy something stupid like a jar of fancy pickles that I use once.
