Amtrak's Quiet Car rule actually helped me stick to a budget in Chicago
I took the Lake Shore Limited from Buffalo to Chicago last Thursday and sat in the Quiet Car without meaning to. The conductor came by and reminded everyone, no calls, no loud chats, just silence for the whole ride. At first I was annoyed because I wanted to plan my savings spreadsheet with my buddy over the phone. But then I realized not having constant chatter forced me to actually look at my bank alerts and catch a $15 monthly fee I'd been ignoring for a year. It got me thinking, maybe the whole 'no distractions' thing is underrated for money decisions. I ended up canceling that fee right there and mapping out my next three paychecks without any noise. Has anyone else found that forced quiet, like a library or a long bus ride, makes you focus on your budget in a way your usual routine never does? What's your weirdest place for a budgeting win?
