Almost lost 3 months of notes when my binder clip failed

I was on a bus in Chicago, just flipping through my journal to check my weekly spread, when the clip that held everything together snapped clean in half. Pages went everywhere, and by the time I crawled under the seat to grab them, my index page had coffee drips on it from someone's cup. I spent the next hour reorganizing by memory, and I realized I never numbered my pages, so I had zero way to know what order things went back in. My whole month is a mess now, and I'm still not sure if my old habits section got mixed up with my expense tracker. Has anyone else had a physical breakdown like this, and do you use page numbers or some backup system to keep it safe?
