That rubber band hack for index tabs wrecked my whole month setup

A YouTuber I follow said to wrap rubber bands around your journal to mark the current week, so I tried it on my Leuchtturm in late September. Within 3 days the bands had creased the paper so bad the edges curled and my index page tore when I flipped to October. I had to redo 5 trackers and the whole monthly log because the ink smudged from the pressure marks. Has anyone else had a clever trick backfire like that, or am I just cursed with cheap elastic?

Rubber bands creased the paper so bad" is my new nightmare fuel, I swear I once taped a washi tab to my page and it ripped a chunk out like it owed it money. Cheap elastic and clumsy hands are a deadly combo for sure.

Gotta disagree a little here. I mean, I've had rubber bands wreck a few journal pages too, but for me they're still the only thing that keeps my planner from falling apart after like a week. The trick is not to use the thin office ones, those are pure evil. I use the fat ones from broccoli bunches, they're way gentler and don't leave those dark crease lines. Plus I always put a thin piece of cardstock between the band and the paper, that honestly solves most of the problem. Idk, maybe I just got lucky with the cheap ones from the dollar store, they're stretchy enough to not bite into the page.
