The way some guys run coax through a soffit without a grommet is just asking for a callback in six months.

I've seen three jobs this month where the outer jacket got chewed up by sharp aluminum edges, and the customer called back with signal issues after the first big rain in Charlotte.

Ugh, tell me about it. I watched a guy at my old apartment complex just shove a line through a raw cut in the siding. The braiding was totally exposed by the time I moved out, and that was only a year later.

Honestly, my neighbor did the same thing with a cable line and it started fraying within months.

Okay but "raw cut in the siding" is sometimes the only option they have. Those installers are on a crazy tight schedule and if they had to perfectly seal every single hole, you'd be waiting weeks for service. That exposed braiding you saw? Probably still worked fine. A bit of weather wear on the outside jacket doesn't mean the cable inside is broken. We expect everything to look perfect forever but sometimes a functional, quick fix is better than no fix at all.

So what happens when that quick fix fails later, @the_ben? Like, who's supposed to fix it then, the homeowner?
