Warning: Just had a carpet bubble up in a room with no sun exposure.

Still figuring out why some carpets just won't lay flat, lol.

Oh man, I feel this. We had the same weird thing happen in a basement bedroom that stays pretty cold and dark. A huge wrinkle just popped up near the door one day. My best guess was humidity changes from the concrete slab underneath, because nothing else made sense. I tried to stretch it back with a knee kicker, but it only kinda worked. Still bugs me.

Know that feeling, seen it happen in a few basement installs over the years. Always seems to come out of nowhere.

Ever try to fight a basement wrinkle? I spent a whole Saturday on my hands and knees with a rented knee kicker, sweating more than the slab. That carpet just laughed at me and bounced right back. I looked like I lost a fight with a sleeping bag. Ended up just putting a big plant over the worst spot.

Concrete slabs always sweat in basements, especially without a vapor barrier. A knee kicker won't cut it for major wrinkles, you need a power stretcher to really pull it tight. I've seen this happen after heavy rains when the ground moisture shifts. Installing a moisture barrier under the pad can prevent it, but that's a bigger job.
