Guy at the swap meet said he keeps his 69 Camaro on concrete with no mat, and now I can't stop thinking about my own setup
So I was at the Springfield swap meet last Saturday and this older guy with a beat up 69 Camaro told me he has parked it on bare concrete in his garage for 15 years with nothing under it and the frame is still solid. I always thought concrete sucks moisture up into the tires and rots the underside, so I put rubber mats down under all four wheels of my 72 Chevelle and thought I was doing it right. He said the mat is what traps the damp air and makes it worse, and that airflow under the car matters way more than what's on the floor. Now I don't know if I should pull my mats up or leave them. Anyone here actually tested this or have a floor setup that works?
