Started telling every new client my rates are locked for 30 days and it did the opposite of what I thought
I always had a problem with clients who sit on a quote for weeks and then act shocked when the price moved, so last month I started putting a 30 day lock on my proposals. Figured it would push people to say yes faster. Instead, this one guy in Tampa waited 28 days and then called me at 4:50pm on day 29 wanting to "lock it in" before the deadline, and now I have two more clients doing the same countdown thing. I mean it worked, nobody ghosted a quote, but now my phone blows up right at the end of every window and I feel like I built a game show. Has anyone found a set time limit that doesn't turn into a last minute panic call?
