Warning: I stopped giving phone consults and started charging $40 upfront, and the tire kickers vanished
I used to burn 5 hours a week on free calls with people who never hired me, then a guy in Portland talked my ear off for 90 minutes about a $300 job and ghosted. Now I take a $40 deposit that comes off the invoice, and the folks who pay it show up ready to work. Does anyone else screen clients this way, or did I just get lucky?
