My old boss in Dallas told me to write down every word a client says in meetings, and it saved me $1,800 last month
When I started freelancing 3 years ago, my former manager at an ad shop in Dallas gave me one piece of advice: keep a running doc of every single thing the buyer promises on calls. I thought it was overkill, but last month a guy swore up and down we agreed on 4 rounds of edits, then asked for round 7 and wanted it free. I pulled up the note from our first call where he said '2 rounds max, then we pay hourly' and he went quiet and paid the $1,800 bill. Does anyone else keep a paper trail like this, or do you just record the calls?
