Rant: I started charging a 25% rush fee and it backfired in the dumbest way
Six months ago I got sick of people begging for same-week work, so I added a 25% rush fee to my quote sheet. Figured it would scare off the last-minute crowd. Instead 5 people in a row just paid it without blinking, and one guy in Sacramento told me my normal rate must be a bargain since the rush price felt fair. Now I'm doing more fast turnarounds than ever and my week is a mess. Turns out a fee is not a filter, it's a price tag, and some folks read a high price as proof you're good. Has anyone found an actual way to say no to rush jobs without just making them more tempting?
