The 'just a small project' that grew 4x with no new budget
Client in Portland hired me for a basic 5 page site at $2,000. Week two they started adding features, a blog, a contact form, an image slider. I kept saying okay until the scope hit 20 pages. When I sent a change order for $1,500 more, they said 'we thought that was included.' I finished the original pages, paused everything else, and told them we can revisit after payment. They paid the extra after a week of silence. Has anyone else had a client treat a fixed quote like an all you can eat buffet?
