Update: client went from 'no rush, take your time' to 14 emails in 2 hours
I took on a Shopify redesign for a guy in Tampa back in March and he was super chill for the first 3 weeks, answering my questions with one liners and telling me to just do my thing. Right after I sent the first draft he flipped completely, sending 14 emails in one afternoon with stuff like 'why is the button that color' and 'my cousin says this looks cheap', and I think the switch happened because he finally showed it to someone else who had opinions. So my question is, do you walk when the vibe changes that fast, or do you ride it out and just bill for the extra rounds?
Whoa there, hate to be that person but your friend did not get paid for extra rounds. That is not how it works at all. If he rode it out, he just sat there and did nothing while everyone else kept playing. The payout stays the same no matter how long it drags on, so six extra rounds just means six extra rounds of nothing. Maybe your friend told you a fun version of the story, but the money side does not add up.
