Just realized that $80 'artisan' coffee subscription was a total scam

I signed up for a three month box from a company called 'Bean Voyage' that promised rare single origins. Every bag was stale, like it had been sitting in a warehouse for six months. I'm out the cash and stuck with three pounds of bland beans. Anyone know a legit small roaster that ships fresh?

Oof, that "stale, like it had been sitting in a warehouse" line hits too close to home. I once bought a bag from a fancy place that tasted like wet cardboard. Turned out I was basically drinking a museum piece roasted eight months prior. My own fault for not checking the date, but still. For fresh stuff, I've had good luck with a tiny roaster called 'Corvus Coffee' out of Denver. They ship fast and the roast date is always within a couple days.

Yeah, that wet cardboard taste is the worst, isn't it? Happened to me with a grocery store bag that looked fancy but had no date at all. Learned my lesson the hard way. Now I just stick to the local spots that roast in-house, or I order directly from roasters online. Makes all the difference when you get beans that were roasted just a few days ago.

Maybe you just need a better grinder, honestly.
