Can we talk about how everyone skips the backup issues in crossover events?

I keep seeing fans complain about pacing or missing plot points when a big crossover runs through multiple titles, but half the time they never picked up the tie-in issues that set up those moments. At my local shop in Portland, I watched three people skip the Superman side of things during the last event and then blame the main book for being confusing. Why are we acting like skipping required reading and then critiquing the story is fair?

Man, this is such a pet peeve of mine. You can't just skip half the story and then act like the plot came out of nowhere. It's like reading every other chapter of a book and complaining the ending doesn't make sense. The publisher literally puts "part 3 of 6" on the cover for a reason. If you're gonna be a completionist about your pulls, at least grab the tie-ins or wait for the trade. Otherwise, keep the hot takes to yourself, yeah?
