Rant: My longbox stacking system collapsed at 3am

I had 14 short boxes stacked in a pyramid in my closet, sorted by publisher then alphabet. The bottom box had a split seam from a move in 2019, it gave out while I was grabbing a back issue for a reread. Now I'm reorganizing 1,100 comics on my bedroom floor, anyone else trust those plastic bins too much?

Plastic bins are the only reason my collection has survived two moves and a basement flood. You stacked 14 boxes in a pyramid, that's a geometry problem not a storage problem. The split seam box was already damaged, that's like blaming the shelf when you put a cracked milk crate on top. Short boxes are meant to be stacked flat in rows, the pyramid thing looks cool but sacrifices stability for looks. I've got the same cheap plastic bins from 2016 with zero issues, the problem is your stacking method not the bins. Fix the box with duct tape and go back to straight stacks, you'll be fine.
