My backup dive tables beat a glitchy computer any day

A lot of divers think you must have the latest dive computer. I used to agree until mine reset itself during a bridge inspection. Now I always plot my dives on paper tables before going down. It adds a few minutes, but I trust the numbers more. We should not let gadgets do all our thinking for us.

Yikes, my waterproof calculator flooded once, so maybe I'm the problem.

Those 'waterproof' seals aren't perfect forever. I learned that after mine died from getting damp in a backpack. Honestly @jenny183, it's likely just wear and tear.

Back in the day, I totally believed those waterproof claims were solid. My old watch got ruined just from washing my hands, which was a wake-up call. A buddy's speaker died after sitting in a damp garage, too. Now I see it's all just gradual wear, like Jordan said. Kinda makes you respect how nothing lasts forever, lol.

Man, my waterproof phone case once failed in a light drizzle, so maybe I'm cursed too, lol.
