New diver asked me about bottom times, made me rethink my gas planning

Kid on the boat last week asked why I run 30% EAN on a 60-foot wreck when air is cheaper. I gave him the usual spiel about narcosis but then realized I haven't actually ran the numbers since my last nitrox class in 2019. Pulled up my dive log last night and found I've been padding my NDLs by 12 to 15 minutes per dive without accounting for my cooler workload in winter. Anyone else catch themselves relying on habits instead of recalculating their mix for conditions?
