Old timer in Galveston taught me to check my umbilical with my hands, not my eyes
He grabbed my hose at the dock in Galveston back in 2011, ran his fingers along a spot I'd looked at a hundred times, and said "feel that flat spot?" and sure enough there was a weak spot the size of a dime that blew two weeks later, so now I'm curious how many of you still do a hands-on inspection before every splash or if it's all visual checks now.
