Took 14 days to fix a stupid umbilical twist issue on a job in Norfolk
Honestly, I ran into a nightmare last month where our umbilical kept getting these tight loops that would kink the air line mid dive. We thought it was a reel problem or maybe the tide, but turns out it was the way we were coiling it after each shift. Took me two full weeks and about 60 hours of fiddling with different lay patterns until an old timer on another barge told me to stop with the figure eight and just use a flat flake on deck. That simple change fixed it in one afternoon and I felt like a total idiot. Has anyone else had a rig setup issue that ate up way more time than the actual fix deserved?
