A customer's offhand remark got me testing RAM sticks before blaming the motherboard

After 3 years of swapping out boards on dead systems, this guy in Tacoma said 'did you even try the RAM first?' and sure enough, two of my last five 'dead boards' were just bad sticks, so now I spend 10 minutes with MemTest86 before I pull a board, has anyone else found that simple step cuts their returns in half?
