Guy on a pour in Fresno showed me to keep a cut sponge in my back pocket for edges
Six years back I picked up one small habit that still pays off on every slab. I was losing my mind on a driveway pour in Fresno, edges kept tearing out while I was floating, and an older finisher working the neighbor's job just walked over with a wet sponge cut in half and tucked it in his back pocket. He said keep it soaked and hit the edge with it right before you go back with the float, just enough to keep the cream alive. Sounds simple but it saved me at least a handful of callbacks that season, and I still cut mine about 4 inches long so it folds over easy. Any of you got a little edge trick like that you picked up by watching instead of asking?
